Mark’s story begins with his great great grandfather, Ole Paalshaugen, great grandfather, Petter Paalshaugen and grandfather, Sigard Paalshaugen, who lived in Oslo, Norway. Like many Norwegians of their time, they built their homes using hand tools—tools they crafted themselves. Pictures shown below.
In 1927, Sigard immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island. Upon arrival, he Americanized his last name to Peterson. Carrying with him the tradition of Norwegian craftsmanship, Sigard passed down his skills to his son, Leif.

Leif not only passed down his craftsmanship to his sons, but also shared his expertise as a teacher in the Building Trades Program at the Boulder Valley School District in Boulder, Colorado. Over the course of 22 years, he and his students built 22 homes—one each year—providing hands-on experience and shaping the next generation of skilled tradespeople.
Mark has continued the family legacy, using his craftsmanship to remodel and repair homes—his own and others’—since 1998. Give Mark and his team a call today! (541) 871-3300
